This week on Record Time the Keepers of the Akashic Records share:

It takes practice to be magical.

They use the word “magical” intentionally here, because it can mean whatever you want it to mean. Maybe being magical means being in deep connection with yourself, maybe it means being intuitive, maybe it simply means being skilled at something. I invite you to take a moment to consider what “being magical” means to you in this moment (with freedom to change your mind anytime).

So with “magical” being such an open-ended word that is full of potential, what are the Keepers saying? To be whatever type of magical you wish to be – it likely will take practice. This is so straightforward it’s almost amusing to me – To be anything you aspire to be, it will likely take practice.

That’s not to say that natural gifts are non-existent, but even innate gifts and pure potential often take intentional effort in order to cultivate and bloom. Maybe this isn’t true for you, and that’s okay. I also want to note that when the Keepers use the word practice, they don’t mean something strenuous, hard, or unpleasant. Practice isn’t equivalent to “hard work” or “blood, sweat, and tears”. They simply mean showing up for something consistently. Practicing your magic could be something that takes 5 minutes of your attention each day.

It’s easy to hear the word practice and want to groan, and maybe that’s because of memories of different types of practices you attended as a kid (like sports practice, or band practice, or practice for something that you didn’t like doing). But the Keepers’ notion of practice is different from that type of forced practice. Practice in this context means to be in rhythmic relationship with something (in this case, whatever your “magic” is).

One way to think of it is like this: If your magic was a person – what kind of relationship would you be in? Is your relationship to your magic devoted and committed and steady? Or is it a little more casual, fluid, or off & on? I’d like to note that there’s no right or wrong answer here, it’s just a way to become aware of how you relate to your magic and your personal practice.

We explore this topic in even more detail in this week’s episode! You can receive the full Akashic Transmission on the practice of being magical in the video below.

If you know anyone who might enjoy this perspective on practice and magic, please share this with them and spread the goodness.
