Permission to Feel Unreasonable Emotions

Stop Trying to Explain Your Emotions Away (Especially to Yourself) | Record Time Ep. 164

This week on Record Time, the Keepers of the Akashic Records ask us:

How close can you sit with yourself in Silence?

I feel like this question could be contemplated in many different ways, and I invite you to consider what this means to you. 

Another way the Records might ask this question is – how often do you force yourself to explain your emotions?

If this question feels tender to receive, remember to go slow (you can also take a deep breath). 

When you’re feeling a big emotion, or even a taboo emotion, what’s your first response?

Do you immediately ask yourself: “Why am I feeling this?”

Or do you perhaps tell yourself: “I shouldn’t be feeling this way!”

If you tend to first try to figure out WHY you feel what you feel right away, or if you judge yourself for feeling something you “shouldn’t be feeling” – this contemplation is for you. 

The Records are gently inviting us to consider: what would it be like to let yourself feel what you feel, even if you can’t explain it?

What would it be like to feel that anger, that sadness, that jealousy in its fullness, even if it makes no sense!

The Records are offering us huuuuuge permission to divest from the need to explain our emotions before we allow ourselves to feel them. 

Your emotions don’t have to make sense in order for you to feel them.

You are allowed to feel your present emotional state, even if you can’t explain (to yourself or others) WHY you feel that way.

Your emotions don’t need a logical reason in order to be digested. They just need to be felt.

How closely can you sit with yourself in silence?

How deeply can you be with your feelings, even when they can’t explain themselves to you?
